Hi, my best friend is 17 years old and a senior in high school in the state of HI. She has been sexually involved with our 53 year old teacher for the past three months and in HI the current age of consent is 16. There is more than a five year age difference but she is 17 and he is in a position of authority. Is this legal? I am desperate, and worried that this is statutory rape. Please advise.
