child gaudianship

my Motherinlaw got me to sign a paper giving her gaudianship temporaly. But now she only lets me see them on fri nights and sat mornings . can she do this?her son is the father of my 1 child and is in prison for beating me 4 times , twice while pregnant. When he left me he didnt pay the rent and I had no where to live except in a friends livingroom, so motherin law talked me into signing papers so that the girls would not have to sleep on florr of friends floor. Now she hardley lets me see them since I filed a report when her son once again beat me after luring me to a parking lot to talk. Pleas help me
