You can seek custody of the child, or ask to be included in any adoption or foster care placement so that it would be an open placement and the child would get to know you.

Reply to Shelley's Post: This only answers part of my question. Sorry, I am curious, I have a roomate who terminated his rights and it was considered to be a close adoption. My question is, Does the grandmother of the child have rights in the state of Michigan to see her grandson or as we were told by a lawyer but only said he thinks she would be in violation of the no contact order and legally she is no longer his lawful grandmother. I am afraid for her that she would be held as the judge put in comtempt of court if she see's him and try's to have contact with him without the court agreeing to it..

If the parent terminated rights and there was a closed adoption the grandparent has no right to see the child unless there is a court order granting that right.
