My friend is being asked to sign a prenuptial agreement.
The "groom" has not given her a ring.
They have been living together for 3 years.
He comes from big money.
My friend comes from moderate money.
I say that she should not sign it.
If they do get married, it should be a mutually agreed upon union without the consideration of money, wealth and property.
She has a degree in pre med and is gainfully employed.

Hi,

Prenuptial agreements are very common and while it may seem that it dampens the romance many people will not get married without one.

In the end it is a personal choice as to if and when she signs it. Most often they are signed once the plans for the marriage have been made but some people will deal with this prior to getting a ring or spending any money to make sure it isn't a deal breaker first.

I would advise her to have it throughly examined by a lawyer outside of the family to make sure it is valid and has her best interest in mind.

Walter
